Mauboussin
The House Of Mauboussin
Maubossin is a brand founded in 1827 by the French jeweler M. Rocher and his cousin Baptiste Noury. They established a retail store in Paris.
A new retail store in Paris opened under the name ‘Mauboussin, Successeur de Noury’ which translates to Maubossion - the successor of Noury. After the Great War, the sense of equality was stronger than ever. This was a time when the brand flourished providing ample attention to women's jewelry.
From the ‘Reflections’ line started in the 1930's up to the contemporary designs, Mauboussin jewelry remains a highly desired brand by many collectors. Over the years, there have been many exhibitions with different themes organized by Mauboussin.
While the 1920s and 1930s were the best era for the promotion of emerald, ruby and diamond themes, the 1940s and 1950s asserted the style of the House of Mauboussin which resulted in the creation of beautiful pieces in a completely new style. The 1950s, on the other hand, marked the arrival of the Naturalist themes and the sense of movement and dynamism.
The New Era Of Mauboussin
Mauboussin opened a boutique with display windows on the place of Vendome and started offering high-quality jewelry in a more moderate price range.
In the 1980s, the focus was on the contrast between light and shadow. All of the shapes were created to suggest sensations which appealed to their clientele. The brand also started designing luxury watches and gave birth to the iconic Nadia and Olympe rings.
At present time, Mauboussin creates various collections of rings, jewelry and other works of art. The brand continues to successfully glorify color and gaiety in a magnificent play of independence.
